What is Kaas ?

The Kaas Plateau also known as the “Kaas Pathar” which is situated in the Western Ghat Sahyadri range, 22 kilometres from Satara city in the state of Maharashtra in India.
The name Kaas originates from Kaasa tree. Leaves of this tree turn green to red as they mature. The area of plateau is approximately 1,000 hectare.
During the flowering season from mid –August to October, almost every inch of the plateau is bedecked with flowers in various colors and sizes. Infact, recently Kaas has been declared as a Biodiversity World Heritage Site by The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) due to the floral biodiversity found here.
Kaas Lake is surrounded by dense forests and lies between Sajjangad fort and the Kanher Dam. The place has more than 850 different species of flowers and other plants including Orchids, Karvy and even carnivorous plants such as Drosera Indica. The falls under the Sahyadri sub-cluster of Western Ghats which is now a UNESCO World heritage

Meeting Point : Swami Narayan Mandir Dadar East @10:45 pm
Pickup Point : Yogi Hotel , Diamond Garden Chembur @ 11:30 pm
Pickup Point : Below Main Bridge , Vashi @ 12:15 am
Day 2 : 28th Sept, Sunday.
Travel by pvt bus till Satara.
Have Breakfast en route
Reach Kaas Plateau in the morning.
